Community Mosquito Control

Why Community Mosquito Control Makes Sense

Protecting Our Environment, Saving Money, and Building Healthier Neighborhoods Together
At Three Rivers Mosquito and Vector Control, our mission has always been to protect your comfort and your health—but also to protect the environment we all share. We’ve spent years responding to mosquito outbreaks, but the truth is: chasing mosquitoes around after they hatch is the least effective and most chemical-intensive approach.
There’s a better way.

Join Lapinemosquito in Making a Difference

1.Environmental Benefits: Less Chemicals, More Impact

When we only fog individual properties, it’s like bailing out a sinking boat without plugging the hole. Each fogging requires pesticide use, usually late at night, and only provides temporary relief.
Community-level mosquito control focuses on stopping mosquitoes at their source—before they hatch. This dramatically reduces the need for repeated fogging and cuts down on the amount of pesticide released into the environment. Fewer chemicals. Less exposure. Better results.

2. Financial Benefits: Shared Costs, Smarter Solutions

Right now, many of our customers are paying out of pocket, sometimes multiple times per season, to try to control mosquitoes that aren’t even coming from their own property.
By working together, you can spend less and get more protection.
There are two main options:
Option 1: Voluntary Community Program
Our current customers (and neighbors) could collectively fund targeted source control treatments on nearby unmanaged properties—like riverbanks, oxbows, flood areas, or abandoned lands. This would stop mosquitoes before they ever reach your yard, reducing the need for individual fogging.
Option 2: Create a Mosquito Control District
A formal district would spread the cost fairly across all landowners, at an estimated $50 per year for a $200,000 home.
A district provides legal authority, reliable funding, and long-term solutions that would dramatically reduce (or even eliminate) the need for routine backyard fogging.

3. Better Protection for Everyone

The reality is that mosquitoes don’t respect property lines. Individual fogging is a temporary fix. Community mosquito control is a long-term solution.
By working together, we can control the sources—those river edges, wetlands, and standing water areas that are responsible for most of the mosquito population.
We already know where 95% of the mosquitoes are coming from.
With proper funding and community buy-in, we can stop them before they hatch.

The Honest Trade-Off

A successful community program or district would actually reduce what Three Rivers Mosquito Control gets paid in the long run. But we believe the goal is to protect you and the environment in the most responsible and efficient way.

Our goal has always been to reduce mosquitoes in the most effective, responsible way whether or not that increases our day-to-day work. Focusing on prevention and community solutions simply makes the most sense for long-term protection.

Less fogging. Less chemicals. Lower costs. Healthier neighborhoods.  Wouldn't it be nice to have far fewer mosquitoes without the ATV fogging around your property at night?

Let’s Start the Conversation

We understand some people are concerned about new taxes or government programs. But a mosquito control district is a minimal investment with a maximum return.
We invite you to reach out, ask questions, and explore how we can work together to create safer, more comfortable communities—with fewer chemicals and fewer mosquitoes.
